INGE LAGER (DE)

Inge is a willow-weaver and land-artist. Her art practice is deeply inspired by and connected to the natural world. Traditional basketry techniques form the foundation of her work while she approaches them with a sense of experimentation.

Inges way of working is intuitive and collaborative with the environment. She is drawn to organic shapes that echo the rhythms of nature.

Inge is working in her atelier in an Art Center in Cologne and on-site in the natural world.

IN-BETWEEN (2025)

Between land and sea,
between earth and sky
between open and close
between strength and fragility, transience and permanence

Grounded, connected to the roots
Soften and open to the unknown above

This sculpture was created during the time of the autumn equinox. As a weaver Inge`s intention was to weave something site-specific on this special untamed island admidst the wild forests and beautiful fjords of Norway. After exploring the area for one day, she selected a spot in a bay where the green vegetation of moss and heather changed to an area of grey shore stones. Once she started to weave a structure, the process seemed to unfold naturally by itself. The shape might remind the observer of a wave, a spiral or even a boat.
