MARY BOURNE (SCO)

​Mary Bourne RSA FRSS is an artist based in the rural North East of Scotland whose work explores our environment and how we relate to it, physically, intellectually and subjectively.
​
Her varied professional practice balances commissions for the public realm with exhibitions, residencies and education projects. Stone is her principal medium, though she also works in a variety of other materials, as well as using photography and digital design.

Mary says: “For me art is a medium for reflection and communication. Given the durability of my medium this means communication not only between contemporaries but between generations: stone warmed and shaped by my hands will perhaps again be warmed by the hands of someone in some unknowable time to come.”
